Russian
Dance February 2004
This July 2004 was the 25th Anniversary of Russian
Dance - one of my earliest compositions.
This recording of Russian Dance is basically the
introduction to the work. More like an Overture
than a single song, Russian Dance is a potpourri
of many musical themes and ideas.
In July of 1979, I began writing what I would later
call “Russian Dance.” The first part of the composition
was based on a folk theme and a variation on the
same theme. In December of 1980 I completed the
second part consisting of another theme and added
a second folk style melody to the mix.
Russian Dance debuted on August 13, 1981 at my Senior
Piano Recital. The piece was performed twice publicly
since then.
Hot off the presses! Recorded Sunday, February
29, 2004. This new recording features The Garritan
Personal Orchestra and The Malmsjo Grand Piano (circa
1894). I hope you will enjoy it.
